The IMI Accredited Single Split Installation & Commissioning Programme is designed for engineers who hold a valid F-Gas qualification and wish to develop their knowledge and practical skills in the installation, commissioning and decommissioning of single split air conditioning systems.
The course is particularly suitable for engineers with little or no previous experience installing split air conditioning systems and provides a practical introduction to industry standard installation procedures.
Combining classroom based learning with hands on practical training, candidates will gain experience covering all stages of a single split installation, from system positioning and pipework installation through to pressure testing, evacuating and commissioning.

The course provides a practical understanding of how a single split air conditioning system operates, along with training covering installation, commissioning and removal of systems.
Training includes:
- System Understanding – basic operation of single split air conditioning systems and key components
- Health & Safety – safe working practices, PPE selection and producing a basic risk assessment
- Decommissioning an Existing System – pump down, refrigerant recovery, electrical isolation and safe removal of indoor and outdoor units
- Installing a Single Split System – positioning units, installing mounting brackets and manufacturing copper pipework
- Commissioning the System – pressure testing, evacuation, releasing refrigerant and checking system operation
