This qualification allows technicians to recover, handle and charge refrigerant in mobile air conditioning systems.

Please note, this qualification does not allow candidates to purchase refrigerant gas.  To purchase refrigerant, engineers or companies will require the appropriate F-Gas certification, such as the 2079 City & Guilds Level 2 Award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations: Category 1.

Assessment is carried out through theory and practical testing.

If a candidate does not pass:

  • City & Guilds requires a 24-hour waiting period before re-sitting an assessment
  • This means candidates may need to return on another day to complete a re-sit

For comparison:

  • IMI assessments typically allow re-sits within a shorter timeframe (often the same day)
